Gina K. Designs May Blog Hop Day 1- Anemone Wishes

I made another thing! 😀 I am so excited to have created another stamp set with Gina K. Designs, “Anemone Wishes”. This set is a little different than my last one in that it contains images as well as greetings. I absolutely love this set, and I have had so much fun creating with it. I just want to keep coloring in all the different ways! The leaves and branches work beautifully to create wreaths. This set is sold as a bundle with dies for EVERY image. (Except the flower tummies. Because that just doesn’t need a die.)

Announcement: Gina K. is giving away a $25 gift certificates to the Gina K. Designs store. You must comment on all the blogs to be entered! Good luck!

I decided to color these flowers in the simplest way possible. I watercolored three pieces of watercolor cardstock in green, purple, and pink. After the pieces were dry, I heat embossed my flowers and leaves in white over the watercolored paper. Then, I die cut my images and made my cards! Super fun and super easy. I originally wanted more variety in the watercolor and even used many color varieties, but I did that step in a dark room in the middle of the night because I just felt like painting at the time. Apparently all my color variations melted into one color. Still pretty, though. However, if you decide you want to try this technique, and you want to achieve correct results, I recommend turning on a brighter light and maybe being a little awake. That is all.

I used a Lawn Fawn large scalloped rectangle die to create the front of my card. I used foam tape to raise it slightly from the base. I used Gina K. Designs Heavy Base Weight White cardstock for both pieces.

I used my set, Anemone Wishes, for the greeting, which I stamped in Jet Black Amalgam ink. I arranged my flowers and greenery in a little clump at the bottom and taped them together.

For sparkles, I used Little Things by Lucy’s Cards iridescent jewels and adhered them with GKD Connect Glue. These are gorgeous and pick up the color around them.

And that is the finished project! I made a few more cards with the watercolored anemones! I really made a lot of flowers and leaves.

I did my own embossing on the front panel by using a scoring tool to create a diagonal stripe pattern. It really helped make the card pop.

I used a Lawn Fawn stitched heart die for the heart, and adhered it with foam tape for dimension. The beautiful greeting is found in one of the stamp sets in Gina’s new StampTV kit, Sunshine & Love.

This card is a simpler version of the card above. I used a GKD Double Stitched circle die to cut the main panel with my greeting. For the layer around the circle, I die cut a GKD Single Stitched circle from that same watercolored cardstock.

Thank you bunches for stopping by! I will link the products that I used below.

  3. What a clever way to make the flowers! This reminds me of being in the mountains in Wyoming and Colorado where they have wild anemones.

The second card is my favorite!!!!! I may have to try that one.

    Cheers!
