Gorgeous Autumn Florals- Thanksgiving Card

There’s something about rustic oranges, plums, and deep reds that get me in the fall mood. This stamp set pairs beautifully with fall colors, and is so much fun to layer up in bouquets. I actually colored all of these flowers on separate occasions and didn’t envision them together. One of the flowers is even watercolored, while the rest are colored with pencils! (Can you tell which one?) When I put them together, I loved how it turned out.

The stamp set that I used is by Hannah Schroepfer (my sis) for Gina K. Designs. I love that this set has dies, but it is also available as a single stamp set without the dies. The greetings in this set are so pretty. The greeting I have been using the most is “Keep Going, Keep Growing”. It is such a beautiful encouragement greeting.

On to the card.

First step (and longest step) was coloring the flowers and leaves and die cutting them. I actually colored all of these on my honeymoon in our hotel. My hubby even colored some flowers. Not any of these. His are tucked away. For safe keeping… 😉

Put the flowers aside, because the real ‘first step’ involves the card front. I cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Gina K. Designs layering weight white cardstock. (I do wish I had used the heavy weight for the added thickness, however.)

I then took a small round paint brush and added water to one of the colors in my Coliro pearl colors gold set. I used the more orange-y shade, which is the second one from the left in the photo.

These shimmery watercolors are so pretty. They are by far the most pigmented metallic watercolors I have tried.

To create the border, I loaded up the brush with watercolor and painted the edge of the cardstock with the side of the brush. I used my heat gun to speed up the drying process a bit, but that is totally unnecessary if you have enough patience to wait 17 seconds.

Next step is to stack the florals so they look like a nice little bouquet. I organized them all on the left side and left room for my greeting, which is from my recently released stamp set, “Thankful & Blessed.” (See the scripty goodness below) 😍 #shamelessselfpromotion

See how the gold watercolor is a little messy? Don’t keep it in a straight line. Let it smoosh a little.

Last but not least I mounted the entire piece on foam tape for dimension over a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ GKD Heavy Base Weight White card base.

And there it is. An easy yet stunning Thanksgiving card. On a quick side note, I have been going more outside the box with envelope colors lately. The color I paired with this card is Gina K.’s Cranberry Tart Envelope. This red is a rich wine red that really brings out the Autumn-ness in the oranges and reddish plums of the flowers.

Thank you so much for stopping by! The products I used are linked below.

Happy Crafting!
